Quest! — Levelled up to-dos

Last updated: 29 April 2026

🛡️ The short version

1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Quest! ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

By using Quest!, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Quest! operates entirely on your device and does not transmit any data to us or any third party.

Data stored locally on your device

Quest! stores the following information in a local database on your device solely to provide the App's functionality. This data never leaves your device:

None of this data is linked to your identity, device ID, or any other identifier. The hero name field is entirely optional and intended to be a fictional character name, not your real name.

3. How We Use Information

All locally stored data is used exclusively to:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose other than running the App for you.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your data with anyone. Because Quest! stores all data locally on your device and does not connect to any server, there is no mechanism by which we could access or share your information.

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking libraries. The App uses only standard Android platform libraries (AndroidX / Jetpack).

5. Export and Sharing Features

Quest! includes two optional, user-initiated sharing features:

Hero Profile Export (.heroexport files)

You may export your complete hero profile — including your name, level, XP, quest boards, and quests — to a .heroexport file stored on your device. You control where this file goes. If you choose to share it via email, messaging, or cloud storage, that transfer is governed by those third-party services, not by us.

Quest Board Sharing (.questboard files)

You may export individual quest boards to .questboard files to share with other Quest! users. These files contain board metadata and non-completed quests only. Again, you control who receives these files.

We never automatically upload or transmit any export files. All sharing is initiated explicitly by you through your device's standard share sheet.

6. Notifications

Quest! can send local notifications on your device to remind you of upcoming and overdue quests. These notifications are processed entirely on-device using Android's WorkManager and NotificationManager. No notification content is transmitted to us or any server.

The App requests the following notification-related permissions:

You can disable notifications at any time via the in-app settings or your device's notification settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Quest! does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected or transmitted, Quest! poses no data privacy risk to children. The App is suitable for all ages.

8. Data Security

Your data is stored using Android's standard SQLite database, protected by your device's built-in security features (device encryption, app sandboxing). Because no data ever leaves your device to our systems, there is no risk of a server-side breach affecting your Quest! data.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data persists on your device for as long as you have Quest! installed. To delete all App data:

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
